位于西班牙瓦伦西亚的艺术及科学之城（City of Arts and Sciences）中有科学博物馆、剧院、表演厅和一个水族馆。其教育和娱乐相结合的风格是由西班牙建筑师圣地亚哥·卡拉特拉瓦设计的。建筑在流经瓦伦西亚市的杜利亚河床。杜利亚河因为曾经泛滥，早已被引导到城外，原来河流所在位置的河床，现在成为公园、运动场、音乐厅，是当地居民休闲运动的好去处。
　　艺术科学城这项大工程，就是在干河的河床， 包括科学博物馆、海洋世界、 歌剧院、公园等。 这个地区原本属于城市边缘，尚未完全开发，但是因为艺术科学城的兴建，带动当地经济、旅游、房地产等快速发展，成为瓦伦西亚市新的高级住宅区、重要观光景点。科学艺术城对面也盖起了大型的结合高级旅馆的购物中心Aqua，以及西班牙最大的连锁百货公司“英式剪裁”的新馆。在艺术科学城的另一边，原本就是家乐福大型购物中心，结合电影院及精品街，现在更是人潮不断。这项大工程的兴建，除了展现瓦伦西亚市这个商业古都的经济实力之外，也证明了艺术、美感、 创新的建筑，不但提升一个城市的文化水准、观光地位， 更能实质大幅提高城市的经济繁荣及增加工作机会。
